Utilizing motion blur techniques, this image has been created free of photoshop. By panning the camera during the exposure, accompanied by a slightly slower shutter speed, the trees and the grass of this Yellowstone image take on a very impressionistic appeal.
One of my favorite motion blurs - this image was taken in Yellowstone National Park. I noticed the red strip of wood along the trunk of this tree which became my focal point! Here in an area affectionately referred to as the bobby sox - the trunks of the trees become discolored by the thermal heat that resonates from the earth here.
I love how an image can transport you to different places and times, taking you out of the obvious into a space that tells a story without even speaking a word. Photographs evoke memories based on where they were taken. However, some images such as these, evoke a sense of remembering not only the past, but the future as well. The anticipation of finding new, undiscovered wanderings - places yet to be found in the eye of the beholder - are worth looking for. So on days when life seems to become a little static, perhaps even mundane, I look deep into the Impression of these images and look forward to who is yet to come!
